Some Trickster Entities: Coyote, Fox, Rabbit, Snake, Raven, Crow, Odin, Loki, Hermes, Dionysus, Anansi, Papa Legba, The Sacred Clown, The Fool are among many. If you have a favorite entity, perhaps look into Their pantheon to find the Tricksters. Read the myths, learn the lessons.
Tricksters tend to get a bad name, and some even see them as evil figures, comparing them to the Christian boogeyman, Satan! Loki, for example, is often seen as a Norse Satan... Which I have to ask: Have yall read the myths???? Odin's worse than Loki! And He's a far greater trickster! Double standards! Tsk tsk!
Tricksters can be wonderful teachers, especially if you're working on yourself. They're great for shattering illusions about ourselves, whether we have perfect ideas or not so great views of ourselves. They can also expose the truths of our environment, especially when we'd rather live in a rose-colored land of denial. They can also liberate us from toxic situations, and teach us joy.
Tricksters are destruction and chaos.
Tricksters can be great healers. Destroying that which is slowly killing us. Opening our eyes to the flaws whether we want to see them or not.
They can also let us know when we're being too serious about life...or not serious enough.
Tricksters can teach us about the importance of moderation.
Tricksters are transformative. Not all chaos is healthy, but then neither is all order.
Tricksters challenge us. I understand why these Entities have such a bad reputation. Changes are scary, especially when we have to take a look at ourselves. Oh, I understand why people tend to avoid or run from Them, I used to be afraid of Them too. Three charming Tricksters came into my life one day, and I decided to give Them a chance.
Life lessons are often difficult. Healing can be difficult. I stuck with it--still am sticking with it. Self-care, yall, an important tool to have in your arsenal. I'm grateful for the lessons the Tricksters have taught me. I honor the Tricksters in my life on April 1st. I wonder what messages these Entities will have for us on the Dark Moon? Don't be afraid, come see what necessary energies the Trickster can bring into your life.
